Vogue Italia cambia las fotos por ilustraciones como gesto hacia el planeta

La publicación reconoce así el impacto medioambiental de las revistas femeninas

El primer número del año de Vogue Italia no incluye ninguna fotografía, ni en su portada ni en el interior. En su lugar hay ilustraciones. Es la primera vez que Vogue hace algo así desde la llegada de la fotografía a sus páginas a principios del siglo pasado. El motivo es reducir el impacto medioambiental de la producción de la revista. Y es que cada una de esas sesiones de fotos con modelos ideales posando en bellas y glamurosas localizaciones que son habituales en la mayoría de las publicaciones femeninas requiere movilizar a un pequeño ejército de estilistas, peluqueros, maquilladores, editores y asistentes, con el gasto energético y de recursos que eso supone.

Esto es lo que, según Emanuele Farneti, editor jefe de Vogue Italia, se necesitó para producir los ocho editoriales de moda que se incluyeron en su último número de septiembre, que suele ser el más voluminoso del año: “150 personas involucradas. Unos veinte vuelos y una docena de viajes en tren. Cuarenta coches a la espera. Sesenta envíos internacionales. Luces encendidas durante al menos diez horas sin parar, alimentadas en parte por generadores de gasolina. Desperdicio de alimentos en los servicios de catering. Plásticos para envolver las prendas. Electricidad para recargar teléfonos, cámaras, etcétera”. En un comunicado, el responsable de Vogue Italia asegura que la “honestidad intelectual” es importante y que, en su caso, eso implica “admitir que hay un impacto medioambiental significativo asociado a la publicación de las revistas de moda”.

Para este número de Vogue Italia se han creado siete portadas distintas por parte de siete artistas: David Salle, Vanessa Beecroft, Cassi Namoda, Milo Manara, Delphine Desane, Paolo Ventura y Yoshitaka Amano. Todos dibujaron a una modelo vistiendo ropa de Gucci.
